What you find on the Rattlesnake Speedway
I have always wanted to be a writer. This blog represents my creative outlet to express my thoughts on life, work, sports, music, parenthood, and things I find interesting.
The Rattlesnake Speedway in the Utah desert is the setting for Bruce Springsteen’s The Promised Land. It is a song, to paraphrase Bruce’s words from his documentary The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story, about the need to lose one's illusions of a life without limitations while holding onto a sense of the possibilities in life.
As time marches on, we continually find ourselves at the crossroads between living a life without limitations and living a life of responsibility for family and community. We occasionally pass on possibilities to live the life we think we should live.
“Mister, I ain’t a boy. No. I’m a man and I believe in the Promised Land.”
